I.B. ANOM MASK MAKER
Gallery founder Ida Bagus Anom Mask Maker

Ida Bagus Anom Mask Maker
Ida Bagus Anom Mask Maker is a Balinese mask-making business established between 1976 and 1978 to carry on a multi-generational family legacy. During the 1980s and 1990s, the business innovated by creating masks in a modern style while adhering to traditional conventions, successfully captivating international tourists. Now in its fourth generation under the management of Ida Bagus Ketut Rajastra, the business continues to preserve the authentic, specialized carving techniques inherited from their ancestors. To them, each mask is not merely a work of art but a symbol of Balinese cultural identity and spiritual values, upheld and shared on the international stage.
The Fourth-Generation Successor of The Ida Bagus Anom Mask Maker Gallery

Ida Bagus Ketut Rajastra
Ida Bagus Ketut Rajastra (Gus Tut) is a fourth-generation practitioner of the Balinese tradition of mask carving and dance, having learned directly from his father, Ida Bagus Anom. Although he initially studied Civil Engineering with the aim of becoming a contractor, his fieldwork experiences sparked a turning point that drew him back to his family's traditional roots. Inspired by his father’s success in popularizing the art of mask-making—despite the prevailing dominance of sculpture—Gus Tut now dedicates his life to preserving authentic ancestral techniques and sharing Balinese culture with the global stage.
